After a three-year break, Auto Expo has finally returned. This year’s event, as always, will feature many manufacturers demonstrating various concepts, the future of the automotive industry and upcoming models. Here is All Launched their New Variants. But before we get to the list of cars, here’s our guide to the future of the Automotive Industry Auto Expo 2023.
Auto Expo 2023 New Variants
As every year, Maruti Suzuki will have an extensive pavilion at the Auto Expo. The brand will showcase at least 16 different vehicles, which will include new concepts, existing models and some technology demonstrators.
Maruti YY8 concept
The first to be presented will be a brand new concept of an all-electric SUV, which will become the hallmark of Maruti at the event. It will also be the first look at the company’s plans for electric vehicles for the Indian market. The country’s largest automaker has not yet launched an electric vehicle and is noticeably lagging behind in the rapidly developing electric vehicle market in India. This concept, which will be presented on January 11, will be a preview of the future Maruti born-EV SUV, which will go on sale by 2025. Internally, this new SUV, known as the Maruti YY8, will be built jointly with a Toyota partner who will have their own version of this model. Designed for both domestic and international markets, YY8 will become a global product, and about 50 percent of the products will be shipped to international markets. The YY8 will be produced at the Suzuki factory in Gujarat for both the domestic market and export.
The second important demonstration of the car for Maruti will be the long-awaited five-door Jimny. The five-door Jimny, codenamed YWD, is likely to be shown on January 12. In fact, an elongated version of the three-door Jimny, the SUV will go on sale only by mid-2023. It will be equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a manual or automatic transmission and will have an off-road 4×4 as standard.
Off-road coupe based on Baleno
Another global debut of Maruti will be a brand new SUV-coupe based on Baleno. This new model, internally codenamed YTB, will be shown in the final production specification and will be the first all-new car released by the automaker in 2023. This model is expected to go on sale by March or April and will become an entry-level Maruti SUV for Nexa outlets. It is also expected that the Maruti YTB will mark the return of the 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, the production of which was discontinued several years ago.
MG intends to demonstrate all its capabilities at Auto Expo 2023 and will present six new cars – Hector and Hector Plus with facelift, Air City EV, MG 4 electric hatchback, MG5 station wagon and MG6 sedan.
MG City EV Concept 2023
MG’s showstopper at the event will be the Air City electric car, which will debut as a concept close to serial. The radically designed two-door electric car will be positioned as a premium commuter car and is based on the Wuling Air electric car, which has already gone on sale in Indonesia. With only 2.9 meters in length, it will be one of the smallest cars going on sale in India. However, the list of equipment will be considerable: MG is expected to introduce features such as two 10.25-inch screens and connected automotive technology. It will receive an LPF battery pack from Tata AutoComp, and sources tell us that the compact electric car should travel from 200 to 250 km on a single charge. It will be launched in 2023, and prices are expected to be higher than on the Tiago EV.
MG4 Electric Hatchback 2023
MG’s next debut at the show will be MG4. This new electric hatchback has already gone on sale in some international markets, but it is still being evaluated for India. In case of launch, it will most likely receive two variants of battery packs that provide a range of WLTP up to 452 km. Unlike the Air EV, it’s not a small hatchback. Its length is 4,287 mm and the wheelbase is 2,705 mm, making it almost the same size as the ZS EV sold here.
Launching the Hector and Hector Plus Facelift
MG will also announce prices for Hector and Hector Plus facelifts at Auto Expo. Updates include a new front end design, as well as other cosmetic updates, such as a new taillight assembly. More significant changes have occurred inside with a completely redesigned dashboard and a massive 14-inch touchscreen. MG is also adding its ADAS technology with a facelift. However, no changes will be made to the power unit, which means that it will work with existing gasoline and diesel engines. The Hector Plus facelift will also receive similar updates.
MG5 station wagon and MG6 sedan
Meanwhile, MG5 and MG6 will be just showcases as the company will assess customer interest. The MG5 is a Carens-sized electric car equipped with a 61 kWh battery that provides a claimed power reserve of 402 km and is powered by a 156 hp electric motor. The 5-seater station wagon is known for its practicality, high-tech interior and roomy trunk. The MG6 is a Skoda Octavia-sized sedan, which is offered with a single powerplant option – a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 169 hp. paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission. MG6 is made in the same style of exterior and interior design that was seen on the ZS EV before the facelift in India.
Hyundai is expected to present many concept cars at the event. This year, the brand’s theme will focus on autonomous driving technologies and electric vehicles.
Launching Ioniq 5
The radically designed Ioniq 5 will be unveiled at the Auto Expo and is expected to be Hyundai’s main product at the event. It is expected that the locally assembled Ioniq 5 will cost less than its Korean cousin Kia EV6, which is sold in India as a fully imported unit.
Last year, Tata Motors demonstrated the Curvv and Avinya EV concepts, which will be presented to the public for the first time at the Auto Expo. The Curvv concept is based on the Nexon EV platform of the second generation and, in fact, is an announcement of the future mid–size SUV coupe, which will go on sale by 2024, and which will be supplied with both an electric car and an ICE powerplant. Meanwhile, the Avinya is the latest electric vehicle using the more advanced 3rd generation Tata architecture. Looking at its proportions and dimensions, it becomes clear that the Avinya is nothing more than a specially built electric car, the design of which is based on batteries and electric motors placed in the far corners to maximize the interior space. It also uses environmentally friendly materials, as well as a unique aroma diffuser for the salon.
At the exhibition, Tata will also showcase future technologies such as hydrogen fuel, ADAS technology, and updated connected car technologies, which the brand is expected to introduce soon on updated Harrier and Safari models.
